Biography
I’m a Staff Site Reliability Engineer at Five9 with 15+ years of experience across infrastructure, site reliability, and observability engineering. Today I lead observability at scale for a cloud contact-center platform serving thousands of enterprise customers.
Porto, Portugal · Remote
My work centers on building observability platforms as products: self-service by design, so engineering teams can instrument, query, and alert on their systems autonomously – no tickets, no dependencies on a central team. Open source at the core, automation everywhere, and resilient infrastructure that anticipates problems instead of reacting to them.
Career
From sysadmin roots to Staff-level reliability engineering, my path has one constant: building strong platforms powered by open source software.
- Five9 (2022 – present) – Senior Site Reliability Engineer → Staff Engineer, Observability. Owning observability at scale: metrics, logs, and traces for a global cloud contact-center platform.
- Talkdesk (2018 – 2022) – Site Reliability Engineer → Senior SRE / Technical Advisor. Reliability and platform engineering for a fast-scaling cloud contact-center company.
- Farfetch (2016 – 2018) – DevOps Engineer → Senior Infrastructure Engineer. Complex, highly available production infrastructure for a global e-commerce marketplace.
- Grupo First (2010 – 2016) – Software Technician → System Administrator / DBA. Linux systems, networking, and databases – the sysadmin foundation everything since is built on.
Toolbox
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Grafana
- Platform & infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Linux
- Languages & tools: Go, CI/CD, infrastructure as code
Open Source & CNCF
I’m an active contributor to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem, with a primary focus on the OpenTelemetry project – the industry standard for observability telemetry.
I also maintain lokxy, a Loki multi-instance proxy (similar to Promxy for logs) with OpenTelemetry tracing instrumentation.
